Jayalalithaa lists projects expected to bridge gap Tamil Nadu will have surplus power by the end of this year, Chief Minister and AIADMK general secretary Jayalalithaa has said. Addressing a public meeting, she said: “The State will get 230 MW after NLC expansion by July. The NLC-TNEB joint venture project at Tuticorin will generate another 387 MW. The Vallur third unit will start contributing 350 MW from August. Besides, agreements have been signed for purchase of 3,300 MW for 15 years. The Sholapur-Raichu r power line, now under trial, will be available for commercial use shortly and contribute another 1,208 MW to the State. The Kudankulam second unit will supply 462 MW by the end of this year.” “When I took charge as Chief Minister in 2011, the State’s requirement was 11,000 MW, against the generation of 8,000 MW. Certain amount of time is required to bridge the 3,000-MW gap,” she said.
