Karunanidhi for an open debate on the Cauvery issue, saying she was prepared to face him in the State Assembly. 2015: No Power cut

Jayalalithaa lists projects expected to bridge gap Tamil Nadu will have surplus power by the end of this year, Chief Minister and AIADMK general secretary Jayalalithaa has said. Addressing a public meeting, she said: “The State will get 230 MW after NLC expansion by July. The NLC-TNEB joint venture project at Tuticorin will generate another 387 MW. The Vallur third unit will start contributing 350 MW from August. Besides, agreements have been signed for purchase of 3,300 MW for 15 years. The Sholapur-Raichu r power line, now under trial, will be available for commercial use shortly and contribute another 1,208 MW to the State. The Kudankulam second unit will supply 462 MW by the end of this year.” “When I took charge as Chief Minister in 2011, the State’s requirement was 11,000 MW, against the generation of 8,000 MW. Certain amount of time is required to bridge the 3,000-MW gap,” she said.

A letter has been written by Tamil Nadu to the Government of India in this regard. According to the letter, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Puratchi Thalaivi Amma had written a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on the 20th of September last year proposing fishermen level talks between fishermen belonging to Tamil Nadu and Sri Lanka. Jaya Campaigns at Virudhunagar

Virudhunagar (Tamil Nadu), March 21 - Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa said the government has decided to set up an industrial park here for food processing, engineering and printing industries. She also questioned the DMK’s commitment to its promise of nationalisation and inter-linking of rivers as the party did not do anything towards that when it was part of the ruling United Progressi ve Alliance (UPA) government. Addressing an election rally here, 525 km from Chennai, Jayalalithaa said: “The government is taking steps to set up an industrial park for food processing, engineering and printing industries.” She said the park would come up in an area of 3,400 acres. She also listed the other measures taken by the government for development of Virudhunagar. Trinamool Congress leader and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has said that she would support Tamil Nadu chief minister Jayalalitha for the Prime Ministerial post. Mamata also clarified that she doesn't mind working Jaya and her party AIADMK in the upcoming general elections. Talking to a television channel, Mamata said that she would never ever support BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi. “After the Gujarat riots, Trinamool Congress demanded Mr. Modi's resignation but they did not and so we came out of NDA. We are looking for non-Congress and non-BJP governments in the center,” added Mamata.
