Jayalalitha's statement on Long term paddy cultivation
Karnataka government failed to release cauvery water to Tamilnadu. In this situation, samba cultivation to be held by farmers. So jayalalitha sanctioned Rs. 53.53 crore for new schemes to cultivate samba without any delay. Also she ordered to open Mettur dam on september 17, 2012. This will helpful to the farmers of delta region.
Jayalalitha ordered to create awareness about the schemes at the Thanjore, Thiruchy, Nagapattinam, Thiruvarur and Kadalur. After the last 10 days, nursery beds for seedling have been prepared in the 2754 Acres of lands. Nursery beds will be prepared in the 7250 acres of lands within 10 days. 53225 acres of lands to be agricultured by direct seeding process, 47000 acres of lands have been completed through this process. Subsidies amount of Rs. 240 to be increased into Rs. 480 per acre to the agricultural works. Agricultural lands limit of 1,00,000 acres to be increased into 2,50,000 acres and 30 KG sample paddy pack to be issued for direct seeding & subsidies of Rs. 10 per KG will be issued for this. It will cost Rs. 17.10 crore to government.
