Jayalalitha requested the people to give up the support to the protesters against the koodankulam project

Two Nuclear power projects with the capacity of 1000 MW each at the Thirunelvelli district, Koodankulam have almost been completed and Fuel loading to be held within this week, sources said. During this time, the protesters again started their struggle against this projects.
Peoples and fishermen of Nearer of koodankulam power were raised their fear against the Nuclear emission. For this,jayalalitha sent letter to the Prime minister to stop this project upto the people of koodankulam's acceptance on september 19, 2011. Protesters who fasting against this project were met jayalalitha on september 21, 2011 at secretariat. They requested her to pass the resolution against this project. For their request, jayalalitha passed the resolution to stop this project upto the people's acceptance on ministers meeting on september 22, 2011.
The congress which was headed by Minister for Finance O. Paneerselvam met Mr. Manmohan singh, discussed about this project and submitted the status of Koodankulam village to him on November 10, 2012. After this, central formed the 15 members group to collect the information about the safety of the Nuclear power plant at koodankulam. Also jayalalitha formed the commity to collect information about the safety of people and Nuclear plant. Eventually, they chaired a meeting on january 31, 2012. In this meeting, a group which is formed by central government answered all the questions which was raised by the protesters group representative. Also they reported the safety of Nuclear power plant and submitted this report.
A group which was formed by jayalalitha also submitted the report and suggested the welfare measures to the people of Koodankulam village. According this report, the Ministry of Tamilnadu chaired a meeting on the issue and sanctioned the welfare measures in the Rs. 500 crore to this village on march 19, 2012.
After this, the protesters filed the case on Chennai, High court against this project. High court gave permission to continue the works on this project.
After the Atomic Energy Regulatory board granted to load fuel in koodankulam power plant, the protesters were started struggling and tried to move near Koodankulam power plant(near 500 meters). Even police were jammed the two main routes, they entered through the beach road. To control the protesters, Earlier, police used tear gas to break up on september 9, 2012. Anthony Raj, from Manapad village, 80 km from Kudankulam, was killed when he joined protesters who tried to storm a police station.
Jayalalitha condoled for this incident and announced the solatium of Rs. 5 lakh to the family of the Anthony raj. Also jayalalitha requested the protesters to withdrawn their protests and also she requested to give up the support to the protesters.
