Jayalalitha handed over free bicycles to the 11th standard students and cash awards to the toppers in the Public Examinations

Ms. J. Jayalalitha introduced the scheme of giving free bicycles to the girls of Adi dravidar and tribal students who studied in higher secondary schools in the year 2001-2002 for the improvement of the standard of girls in the society. After the year 2005-2006, Jayalalitha extended this scheme to all the boys and girls of the higher secondary schools.
From this scheme, last year 2,77,788 school boys, 3,44,380 school girls and totally 6,22,168 students were benefited through this scheme in the Rs. 179.21 crores. For this fiscal, 2,81,861 school boys, 3,49,418 school girls and totally 6,31,279 students will be benefited by this scheme. It will cost Rs. 196.10 crores. Jayalalitha handed over these free bicycles to the students and wished them .
Jayalalitha handed over the cash awards to the toppers of the Backward, Most backward and other students in the 10th and 12th public examinations. For 12th students, Rs. 50000, Rs. 30000 and Rs. 20000 to the students who got first, second, third mark respectively. For 10th students, Rs. 25000, Rs. 20000 and Rs. 15000 to the students who got first, second, third mark respectively. These prizes are allotted to the each classes and totally 93 students who got the first three places were participated in this function. It cost Rs. 18.20 lakhs to this fiscal.
Jayalalitha conducted a simple function at secretariat and she issued these cash awards and other beneficiary measures to the students of Tamilnadu and wished them for their bright future.
