Ms.Jayalalitha allots 750 crores to develop Municipalities and Town Panchayats

Jayalalitha allots Rs. 750 Crores to systematic development of township areas.
Government published news: According to the 2011 Population sensex, 48.45% of people living in urban areas. Due to the migration of peoples from villages to towns because of various reasons like job openings in towns and drastic development of urban areas, Population of urban areas will be increased to 67% approximately within the year 2030. Due to this, Government should take some steps to fulfill the basic needs of common people in urban areas.
So Chief minister Jayalalitha ordered to develop basic needs like drinking water, drainage removal, rain water management, environment, roads, streets, wastage management, bus stop, bus station and garden of Municipalities and Town panchayats from Rs. 5860 crores and Rs. 763.91 crores respectively.
From this amount, Jayalalitha sanctioned the first phase amount of Rs. 506.48 to Municipalities and Rs. 250.8 crores to Town panchayats for this finance year 2011-12. Also Jayalalitha allots Rs. 500 crores to Municipalities other than Chennai and Rs. 250 crores to Town panchayats for the next finance year 2012-13.
New administrative offices: Tamilnadu government decided to change the old buildings of Municipalities for the reason of increase of visitors. Municipality buildings at Kalakadu, Thirukurunkudi, Pathamadai & Thisaiyanvilai from Thirunelveli district; Kamuthi & Sayalkudi from Ramanathapuram district; Perunthurai & Pallapalayam from Erode district; Settipalayam & Pallapalayam from Kovai district; Pennathur from Vellore district; Arakandanallore from Villupuram district; Pannaikadu from Dindugal district; Aaralvaaimozhi from Kanniyakumari district; Panaimarathupatti from salem will be renewed from the cost of Rs.40 lakhs each and totally it costs Rs. 6 crores. Also Thirunelvelli district Municipality assistant director office building will be constructed at Rs. 1 crore, sources said.
